Pre-treatment Recommendations

• Avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen for at least 2 weeks before the treatment.

• Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before the treatment.

• Avoid smoking for at least 24 hours before the treatment.

• Avoid using hair products such as gels, sprays, and waxes on the day of the treatment.

• Wear old comfortable and loose-fitting clothing on the day of the treatment.

• Wash your hair the night before the procedure.

 

After Care Recommendations

• Avoid washing your hair for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

• Avoid using hair products such as gels, sprays, and waxes for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

• Avoid exposing your scalp to direct sunlight for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

• Avoid swimming or taking a hot shower for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

• Avoid scratching or rubbing your scalp for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

• If you experience any pain or discomfort after the treatment, take over-the-counter pain medication such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen as directed by your doctor.

 

Infection and Inflammation

• The scalp is very vascular so the risk of infection is quite small.

• Watch for signs of infection such as redness, swelling, and pus around the injection site.

  • If infection seems possible you can apply a topical antibiotic like Neosporin to the affected areas, if symptoms worsen or persist call us. ​

• Watch out for signs of inflammation such as pain, tenderness, and warmth around the injection site.

  • If this happens you can apply a cool compress to your scalp and take Tylenol for pain.

Results

• The results of the treatment vary from person to person.

• You may start to see results within 3 months after the treatment.

• The addition of topical minoxidil (available over the counter) and oral finasteride at 1mg/d (requires a doctors prescription) can also enhance the hair growth effect.

• Best results are obtained after repeat treatment.
