Laser Hair Removal Before and Aftercare

Follow these recommendations to prepare for your Laser Hair Removal and for your aftercare

Pre-treatment Recommendations

  • Avoid waxing, plucking, or electrolysis for at least six weeks before the treatment. These methods can remove the hair root, which is necessary for the laser to target.

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least a week before the treatment. Sun exposure and especially sunburn can cause your skin to become more sensitive, which may increase the risk of side effects.

  • Avoid using tanning beds, self-tanning products, or spray tans for at least four weeks before the treatment. These products can alter the color of your skin, making it more difficult for the laser to accurately target the hair follicles.

  • Avoid using certain medications or skin care products that can increase your skin's sensitivity. This includes retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids, and certain antibiotics, like doxycycline.

  • Shave the area to be treated the day before the treatment. This will help the laser to more easily target the hair follicles.

Aftercare Instructions

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least a week after the treatment. If you must be in the sun, be sure to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF.

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 24 hours after the treatment. These can cause your skin to become more sensitive and may increase the risk of side effects.

  • Avoid using perfumed products, such as lotions or creams, on the treated area for at least 24 hours after the treatment. These products can irritate your skin and increase the risk of side effects.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause you to sweat heavily for at least 24 hours after the treatment. Sweating can cause your pores to open, which may increase the risk of infection.
