Tattoo Removal
🌺Before & Aftercare Instructions

Laser tattoo removal uses ultra‑short pulses of light to break pigment particles into smaller fragments that your body can naturally clear over time. Each session lightens the tattoo progressively, with most patients needing multiple treatments for optimal fading. The procedure is quick, safe, and effective for most ink colors and skin types.
🩺 Universal Pre‑Treatment Guidelines
💊 Avoid Blood Thinners (5–7 Days Prior) Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, and other NSAIDs increase bruising risk. If you take prescription anticoagulants (Coumadin, Dabigatran, Apixaban), please notify us.
🚭 Avoid Alcohol & Smoking (48 Hours Prior) Both increase bruising and slow healing.
🌿 Consider Arnica Montana Topical or oral Arnica can reduce bruising for patients prone to it.
🧴 Arrive With Clean Skin No makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, or oils. We will cleanse again before treatment.
🧊 Optional: Numbing Cream Apply Lidocaine 30 minutes before your appointment. If you don’t have any, we can provide it in‑office at no charge.
💉 Tattoo Removal — Before Care
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self‑tanner on the tattooed area for 2 weeks before treatment to reduce the risk of pigment changes.
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment if it is hair‑bearing (do not wax or pluck).
Avoid applying makeup, lotions, oils, or numbing creams directly over the tattoo on the day of treatment unless instructed.
If the tattoo is on a high‑friction area (ankle, waistband, bra line), wear loose clothing to avoid irritation.
If you are prone to hyperpigmentation or have a darker skin tone, notify us — pretreatment skincare may be recommended.
Avoid recent chemical peels, retinoids, or exfoliating acids on the treatment area for 7 days prior.
🌈 Universal Aftercare Guidelines
✨ Mild Redness or Swelling Is Normal This typically resolves within a few hours.
🙅 Avoid Rubbing or Massaging Treated Areas Unless specifically instructed for your procedure.
🏃 Avoid Exercise & Lying Flat (4–6 Hours) This prevents product migration and reduces swelling.
🍷 Avoid Alcohol for 24 Hours Alcohol increases fluid retention and bruising.
🌿 Continue Arnica if Needed Avoid applying directly to injection sites.
💊 Resume Blood Thinners After 24 Hours Unless otherwise directed by your physician.
🌤️ Tattoo Removal — After Care
Expect temporary whitening (“frosting”) of the tattoo immediately after treatment — this is normal and fades within minutes to hours.
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or Aquaphor daily until the skin heals (usually 3–7 days).
Keep the area clean and dry; avoid soaking in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean for 48 hours.
Avoid tight clothing, friction, or rubbing over the treated tattoo for several days.
Small blisters or pinpoint bleeding can occur — do not pop blisters; cover with a sterile dressing if needed.
Avoid sun exposure to the treated area for 2 weeks; once healed, apply SPF 30+ to prevent darkening.
Light scabbing or flaking is normal — allow it to shed naturally.
Fading continues for 6–8 weeks; do not schedule sessions closer than this to avoid skin damage.
